I offer supervision from a
strengths-based perspective that is solution focused and collaborative by
taking a holistic supervisee-centred approach, supporting critically reflective
and safe practice frameworks.
I am focused on offering supervision which is
relevant to the Aotearoa/NZ bicultural context. I have interests in
spirituality in practice, gender issues, work/life balance and using
supervision as a forum for learning and transformation. I have experience in
supporting social workers across multi-disciplinary fields of practice who work
across a wide demographic, including working alongside children, young people,
adults, and families in the community.
I encourage best-practice techniques in
those I supervise so they may in turn promote resilience, recovery, and
healing. As a Medical Social Worker and an ACC Accredited Sexual Abuse
Counsellor I can support supervisee’s who are dealing with clients with complex
social issues such as working with survivors of: sexual abuse; domestic violence;
PTSD; Grief; Depression; Anxiety, a range of mental health conditions and
physical/medical health.
Working alongside students and registered
professionals in an external supervision capacity is a genuine passion and a
construct that is reciprocal in the learning that it offers.
I fit a lot into my busy professional and family life, and I would not have it any other way. My large close and extended family, my interests and hobbies keep me grounded and loved.
When I need to connect with my thoughts, I find getting my hands dirty in the garden is a great quiet space to do this in. Likewise, you may also find me by the river or at the beach being close to the ebb and flow of water – I find the movement of water has such a relaxing sound, smell, and vision.
It was amazing. With a sister who is a talented professional artist, I can also be found wandering art-galleries and markets appreciating local New Zealand talent. I have a love of great food and experimenting with cooking and salad combinations.
My father was a representative rugby player and coach, my mother a representative netball player, while my siblings have represented New Zealand in rugby, cricket, hockey and track and field events. Hence, I retain a keen interest in most sports and value my own health to enable me to participate in an active lifestyle.
My evidence-based practice is informed not only by life
experience but a wide range of professional roles, qualifications, and participation
in continued professional development.
I provide Internal and External Supervision across
disciplines, social work services, Sexual Abuse counselling for ACC Sensitive
Claims clients, counselling to both government and non-government agencies, and
counselling services to private individuals and couples.
This variety of service
provision continues to inform my professional growth and keeps me excited about
the services I offer.
Within the private business sector, I have held a variety of
administrative and management positions, while having also been the owner and
director of five successful businesses. These business experiences add another
layer of understanding of the dynamics employers and employees often face
within a workspace and help inform the services I provide.
I am lucky to enjoy the work that I do and feel grateful to
my clients and supervisees for the depth they give my professional life.
If you would like to discuss any of the services that I can
